An Analysis For Epic Games’ Gears of War 3

22

With Gears of War 3 on the horizon, I figured we should do an analysis of the upcoming iteration of the game. As a Gears of War 3 mutiplayer beta tester who played extensively during the beta time period, I have had hands on experience with the game where I analyzed various aspects of the game.

The multiplayer beta for Gears of War 3 not only served as a hands-on with the game itself but also served to give the public a preview of the technological enhancements that will be found as a standard in future games using Epic’s highly popular Unreal Engine 3 technology. We can start off by first admitting that Gears of War 3 will definitely be the most important Xbox 360 exclusive of the year. The sample code offered in the multiplayer beta offered a cut-down portion of the multiplayer offering the game will be providing upon its release. In the single-player campaign, we can expect to see the Unreal Engine 3 rendering technology being tested in significantly more strenuous circumstances, with larger levels, more enemies, and of course mammoth bosses that all factor into the big equation. LoL: Riven, The Exile Preview

10

Riot has recently been off schedule, as speculation is pointing towards the release of Season 2 alongside with the new map/game mode – Dominion. While in preparation for the big releases, the company seems to have fallen behind on their new champion rotation but low and behold it is time for a new champion once again. This time, the new champion is supposedly a combo-based champion that many summoners new and old alike are looking forward to. (more…)

LoL: Thoughts on Talon, The Blade’s Shadow

11

Riot recently released the much anticipated champion: Talon, The Blade’s Shadow in League of Legends. Yet again (it isn’t much of a surprise) the new champion costs a hefty 6300 IP or 975 RP. Riot has released another top tier champion in my opinion as Talon seems to be a good addition, furthermore it doesn’t even seem like Talon needs too many tweaks. Along with releasing the champion, Riot followed their champion bundle schemes with Talon as well with two skins available for the champion at launch, including: Renegade Talon and Crimson Elite Talon.

LoL: Talon, The Blade’s Shadow Preview

There is soon about to be another addition to the list of champions in League of Legends. In the heart of a busy schedule for Riot, with Gamescom 2011 and then PAX Prime following it shortly after, it is really cool to see Riot dedicated to sticking to their bi-weekly champion release schedule. This time, Talon, The Blade’s Shadow has been announced. (more…)

Thoughts On Sony’s Playstation Phone: Sony Ericsson Xperia

3

If you are a both a gamer and a Verizon customer like me, you may have been intrigued by recent commercials featuring the new Sony Ericsson Xperia, a product targeted specifically for smart phone users seeking games with a little more intricacy than say, Angry Birds. The Xperia comes preloaded with 6 games and also features Android OS 2.3 Gingerbread. The price of the phone raises eyebrows, at just $99.99 (with a 2 year contract), causing one to wonder whether it is a sufficient device for serious gaming. The fact that Verizon has dropped the price by 50% over the past few months is certainly not a good sign. Also, according to Nicole Lee, the senior associate editor at Cnet.com, who reviewed the device back in May, the phone has issues with it’s touch sensitive analog-like controls.

Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Are NOT Competing

5

There have been many debates regarding which upcoming first person shooter will be better: Battlefield 3 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The way I personally see it, neither BF3 or CoD: MW3 are competitors to begin with. They are just two modern shooters that happen to be coming out two weeks apart from one another. (more…)

LoL: Thoughts On Skarner, The Crystal Vanguard

4

Earlier today, Riot released the Skarner, the Crystal Vanguard in League of Legends. Again, it isn’t much of a surprise but the new champion costs a hefty 6300 IP or 975 RP. Riot has released a mediocre champion in my opinion as Skarner  seems to be a poor addition that needs several tweaks. Along with releasing the champion, Riot followed their champion bundle schemes with Skarner as well with two skins available for the champion at launch, including: Earthrune Skarner and Sandscourge Skarner. League of Legends: Dominion Announced

4

Earlier today, Riot revealed the big surprise that the company kept boasting they had in store for everyone. The surprise was none other than League of Legends: Dominion, which is a new map that can be played in a new game mode that is expected to be released shortly after PAX Prime (August 26 – August 28th). After almost two years of Summoners Rift and over a year of Twisted Treeline (which never really hit it off with the general LoL community) Riot finally plans to release a new map alongside with a new game mode.
